Types of Monsters

You are warned of the type of monster approaching for each wave of the horde. Although their species has an impact on their abilities and power, it is mainly the color icon assigned to them that will determine their behavior and how to handle them.

Monster Hunter Rise: Defend Kamura's Gates During The Rampage
  • The ones with a red icon are Stalkers. They focus on the hunters, which will annoy you, and can potentially kill you if you are not careful. Don't forget that you can hold onto your turret if you see a hit coming, this will prevent you from being propelled and reduce damage.
  • The ones with a blue icon are Gate Crashers. They will focus on the doors and must be killed quickly to prevent them from progressing to the final door. They will never deviate from their target to attack you directly. Don't hesitate to use the Dragonator and straddling monsters to kill them.
  • Those with a green icon are Targeters. They fly and shoot projectiles at area defenses first. This includes the automatic defenses and turrets you use. They can be incredibly frustrating if playing as a single player. You can knock them to the ground by attacking them with a ballista's retreat signal, for example.
  • Finally, the boss of each horde is marked with a pink/purple icon. Its identified as a "Special Monster". It must be killed or occupied long enough to win. Don't hesitate to use all the means at your disposal to eliminate him, whether it's the inhabitants of Kamura or the superweapons. This monster will alternate between attacks on the gate and attacks on the hunters. It also has the ability to destroy the walls in the middle of the area, as well as the gate in the first area without difficulty.
