The Barroth's tail can be cut off, but it is not always an easy target. Damaging other parts of its body will not be difficult, except for the head if you don't have the right equipment. You can try to put explosive barrels around its skull when it is resting to remedy this and get the valuable bonus components.

The Barroth set is nice for spear wielders, while some individual pieces can be useful for all other weapons at the beginning of the game until you find something better.
