Bug hunting in Skyward Sword HD is an optional undertaking, but one that will earn you rupees and the ability to concoct useful potions for your adventure.
In order to complete the Bug Collection, you're going to need the Bug Net. Fortunately, it's pretty easy to get hold of.
Here's where to find the Bug Net and all the bugs you'll to catch.
Skyward Sword: Where to find the Bug Net
You'll find the Bug Net for sale at Beedle's Shop for the low price of 50 Rupees, but it's not quite as simple as turning up.
Head to Skyloft during the day and you'll find the shop floating around in mid-air, in the south part of town. In order have the rope dropped so you can climb and enter, you'll have to ring the bell that's hanging from it.
To do so, you'll need the Slingshot, which you get in the Faron Woods as part of the Kikwis quest. You can also ring the bell with Clawshots, firing an Arrow, or using a Beetle.
However, you must have the Slingshot to enter, so it's pointless using those alternative methods.
Once inside, select the Bug Net from the shop menu and pay your 50 Rupees.
There's plenty of other useful items in Beedle's Shop, such as a Piece of Heart, an Extra Wallet, an Adventure Pouch and both Bug and Life Medals.
Skyward Sword: How to use the Bug Net
Like the Clawshots, the Beetle or the Slingshot, you must target the bugs first. Then, approach them slowly so that they don't escape.
Controlling the Bug Net is the same as controlling your sword, using the gyroscope controls or the right joystick. Swipe the net downwards at the right time to capture the bug.
It's a good idea to practice a little in thin air so you get the hang of it, as it can be quite difficult at first.
Now for the bug hunting! There's an NPC at the Knight Academy who loves bugs, and you can sell him all your catches.
This is a good way to make loads of Rupees, but you'll have to keep coming back - he only accepts three per night.
