Like its predecessors and most of the major modern games of its kind, Borderlands 3 has an NG+ called True Vault Hunter Mode, we have gathered below everything you need or want to know about it.

Borderlands 3: Unlock the True Vault Hunter Mode

This will seem obvious to you, but you just have to finish the main story of the game. There is no need to be level 50. Return to the main menu, click on 'Mode: Normal' and select 'True Vault Hunter'. Then click on 'Continue' and NOT on 'New game', it's important.

Borderlands 3: True Vault Hunter Mode overview

In True Vault Hunter mode, you start the game from the beginning, with the same character who keeps his level, equipment, inventory, money, etc. Except in this new part the progression in history starts from scratch. But don't worry, you can freely switch between Normal mode and Ultimate Vault Hunter mode from the main menu of the game. The progress is kept separately. So you can return to the last planet of the game in Normal mode if you feel like it, while you still have one foot in the sand on Pandora as the ultimate hunter.

Needless to say, but in Ultimate Vault Hunter mode, the game will be more difficult, but the loot will also be better.

True Vault Hunter Mode: Adjustements

  • Good news, you can skip the cinematic and the introduction of the game with Claptrap. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the rest of the cutscenes and meaningless dialogues. At least you can find out if the farts jokes will make you laugh the second time around.
  • It will be necessary to unlock the autolock again (but your vehicles and special parts are kept), as well as the Sanctuary-3. Once the ship is unlocked, you can directly choose to activate Mayhem Mode if you want to increase the difficulty and performance.
  • The enemies have more life, and they will hurt more. You will notice that many types of enemies have a second life bar, in the form of armor or shield, some even have a third bar. There will be more badass and anointed monsters. The game will therefore be more difficult overall, and things are going to blow up (often literally).
  • The loot is generally of better quality, they will have both a higher score and a greater chance of being of higher quality or legendary. Vault monsters will also be more common.
  • An experience bonus is applied in this game mode, so you will reach level 50 faster if you don't have it yet, and then you will raise your Guardian levels faster. These levels are of course kept in this game mode.
  • All primary and secondary quests are reset, but strangely enough, Crew Challenges are not. At least it will give you another opportunity to pick up the pieces of ClapTrap and others without coming back on a map specifically for this purpose.

The Legendary Weapon Conference Call is back!

The most famous and popular of Borderlands 2's Hyperion weapons is back in BL 3, a powerful shotgun with a shield that will delight both young and old, at least as long as they are on the right side of the barrel. Here are his statistics as well as a way to farmer it to get it.
