The various features of the online experience in Death Stranding

The online features of Hideo Kojima's next game have some specific features that it is good to understand before launching the game, especially with regard to the need or not to have a Playstation Plus subscription to enjoy it.

Through Kojima's tweets and gameplay videos, we got a clearer view of Death Stranding's online features. According to its creator, it will be totally unique. Until the game is released on November 8th on PS4, here's what we know.

Death Stranding: Cooperation - Links between players

Everything seems to indicate that the game will be strictly single-player, but your actions will have some impact on other players' games. Items left behind such as ladders, hooks, shelters and bridges deployed will likely appear in other players' games (and thus in yours), which will provide a welcome shortcut for them. This type of assistance is intended to create links between players. By using them, you will automatically add a "like" to them.

Items can also be left for other players in the same way, whether they are boots or equipment that you no longer use. They can be on the ground, or in the common part of post office boxes, accessible by everyone.

A little like in Dark Souls, it will also be possible to leave icons/messages on the map, which will be visible to other players. They will allow you to report enemies or points of interest, such as a hot spring, abandoned goods or a motorcycle for example.

It will also be possible to reveal 'echoes' of other players in the vicinity by pressing the communication button. By using the topographic sensor, you will also be able to display their footprints.

Death Stranding: PS+ and internet connection

It goes without saying that you will need a working connection to use the online features. However, unlike what many feared, it seems that it will not be necessary to have an active Playstation Plus subscription based on the information on the PS4 Pro Bundle box. We are still waiting for official confirmation.
