Cyberpunk 2077: How to Make Calls and Text

You can use your smartphone in Cyberpunk 2077 to make calls and text other characters. Here's how to do it.

Cyberpunk 2077: How to Make Calls and Text

Though Cyberpunk 2077 takes place far into the future, as much as things change, many of them remain the same. For instance, you can use your smartphone to call and text acquaintances. Sure, you get advanced chat windows that bring FaceTime to the next level, but you're essentially doing the same thing you used to back in good ol' 2020: calling someone.

If you're thinking a call or text might be the way to share information in Cyberpunk 2077, the good news is that it's incredibly simple to ring someone. Here's how you go about calling and texting others in Cyberpunk 2077.

How to Make Calls in Cyberpunk 2077

If you find that you need to reach out to someone in Cyberpunk 2077 via phone, it's very simple to give them a ring. On any platform using a controller, hold down on the D-pad. This includes PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, or Stadia. You can alternatively press the "T" button on your keyboard or the down button on the D-pad if you have a controller hooked up.

When you do this, you'll open up the phone menu. All of your contacts will be listed here. You can scroll through the list of names to find who you wish to speak to. Once you're ready to make a call, all you need to do is choose the person and press the "action" button, depending on your platform. Keep in mind that not everyone will answer every time you call, especially if they aren't an active part of a mission you're on.

How to Send Texts in Cyberpunk 2077

Sometimes you've gotta text instead of call. Just like in real life, the people of Night City may not want to chat on the phone. Instead of placing a call, you can text people instead. All you need to do is open the phone menu the same way you would to call someone. Choose the contact you want to text. You should see a message stating whether or not your recipient will accept texts at the moment or not.

If you have the option to, you can press the "action" button to initiate a conversation. When you receive a reply, you can continue to do so and your V will write back scripted replies. You can reply in instances where there may be a car for sale, or you need to share intel with someone. Otherwise, a call may be triggered instead.

That's all you need to know about texting and calling in Cyberpunk 2077. Keep in mind that not all functions will be immediately available and will change as the game wears on. The type of communication you use will vary from situation to situation.
