On the eve of the League of Legends Championship Korea, officials have announced new safety measures in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

According to LCK officials new safety measures will be taken starting tomorrow, in addition to closing the venue to spectators, in order to keep both League of Legends players and staff safe.
New measures include:

  • Masks and hand sanitizers distributed at the doors.
  • Interviews to be held while wearing masks.
  • Mics will be equiped with disposable protections
  • Media staff to have a temperatures check before entering the arena.

Following the Chinese LPL being indefinitely suspended in light of the coronavirus outbreak, the Korean League of Legends competitive scene could now suffer indirectly.

Members of the official English LPL broadcast team announced their safe departure from China, and that they were going to be checked by medical teams.

As relayed by officials on Twitter, the LCK start date is currently unchanged, but the event will not benefit from any live audience.

The decision taken to protect fans, staff and players has so far no communicated duration. Booking of tickets for the coming weeks has been postponed for the moment.
