We're not hiding it from you: we were a little upset that we couldn't use real helicopters as soon as we landed on Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2. Part of Epic Games' teasing was based on this flying machine, and many players (like us) were hoping for a new air vehicle. We have to admit that helicopters are only elements that allow us to immerse ourselves in the spy atmosphere, as we can see in the trailer.
Don't panic, it's probably just a postponement. Several clues seem to confirm a later deployment of helicopters directly in the game. Here is the list.
1. If the helicopters were supposed to be part of the set, where are they?
Helicopters could very well have been decorative elements, bringing metal if they were destroyed. We could have seen them on their landing sites. But they weren't!
2. The data audio file
Very recently spotted by the dataminers, files corresponding to "shout" allow us to assume an arrival of helicopters in-game.
One of the files is called "Get To The Choppa", and echoes a meme from the 1987 movie Predator. In the movie, the sentence is pronounced to push a protagonist to flee by helicopter.
The upcoming emote could be linked in some way with the use of helicopters.
Please note that Epic Games may also be planning something completely different around helicopters. They may never see the light of day as piloted vehicles in the battle royale. These elements only serve to fuel theories and are by no means rigorous proof!
