The spread of the coronavirus continues to impact the results of many companies around the world. Now, employees of GameStop stores are being told that it's business as usual, according to comments collected by Jason Schreier of Kotaku.
The US-based chain considers itself as "necessary", just like pharmacies or grocery stores, to use the journalist's words. Employees are being told to work as if nothing has happened, and store managers were even instructed to refer the police to GameStop's management in the event of checks.
A few hours earlier, GameStop announced that DOOM Eternal would be released a day earlier, to avoid simultaneously welcoming customers eager to purchase either DOOM or Animal Crossing — also released on March 20.
These are two big releases at the beginning of this year, and given the current context, players are turning more than ever to digital purchases — causing huge holes in the American giant's finances.
