Just before the 2019 Spring Split, G2 Esports surprised the whole League of Legends community by recruiting another midlaner into their roster alongside Lukà "Perkz" Perković: former Fnatic Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther. It sounded crazy because no one was really expecting that Perkz would move to the bot lane to become G2's ADC in the process.
Last year, G2 Esports almost won everything they could, adding two more LEC trophies to their shelves while prevailing at MSI — but they failed to achieve the Grand Slam as they got defeated by FunPlus Phoenix in Worlds' finals.
However, as the Spring Split 2020 began, G2 Esports did something even crazier than recruiting a second midlaner: Perkz and Caps swapped their role. Although they won the split, proving this strategy worked, G2 announced with their usual sense of humour that they would return to their older line-up.
This decision was already suggested by numerous people underlining some bad performances from Caps since he's playing ADC.
Despite still solid results and an overwhelming victory (3-0) against Fnatic in the Playoffs finals, G2 Esports is returning to their former formation.
While the decision isn't really surprising, it remains to be seen how the current LEC teams will adapt to the 'old' G2 following the beginning of the Summer Split on June 12.
