Sony's Futute of Gaming event was a thrill-a-minute as it was, just showing off some of the titles coming to the PS5. But then, right at the end, they dropped the bombshell console reveal.
A sleek, futuristic machine, the PlayStation 5 will come in a standard edition that retains the use of 4K Blu-Ray discs, and a Digital Edition that will not have a physical media drive. Like previous consoles, it can also stand vertically or be laid horizontally. It comes with a range of accessories, including camera, headset, and media remote.
Sony also revealed the new slogan for the console: "Play Has No Limits".

The move to an all-digital console is a bold move for Sony, and likely ties in to a strategy of pushing the PlayStation Now subscription service more in the next generation. Sony have traditionally lagged behind Microsoft's wildly successful Game Pass, but are making moves to catch up.

No other information was revealed, such as the console's price, so speculation will continue to rage online. A recent Amazon product listing had the PS5 down as $599, but the retailer has since come out and said that the price was inaccurate. It could very well be that Sony are waiting for Microsoft to show their hand first, something they have done in the past to great effect.
The PlayStation 5 doesn't have a specific release date either, although Jim Ryan has confirmed a Holiday 2020 launch.
