One week after the PS5 "Future of Gaming" event and the reveal of Horizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games reveal more details on the upcoming title. It is through Mathijs de Jonge, Horizon Forbidden West director, that we learn more about the world of Aloy.
In this video, we learn that Aloy's quest will be to investigate deep buried secrets through valleys, deserts and ruined cities. The map is announced as the largest ever created before.
Several new machines will be discovered and scanned during your quest, such as the Shell Snappers, a species of giant turtle that roams near coastlines and marshes. Several clans, friendly or hostile, will appear as well. Depending on their intentions towards the machines, they will allow you to improve your fighting skills, just like the Mammoth in the video.
Aloy will travel from Utah to the Pacific coast of what was once the United States, in an area called the Forbidden West.
The weather will be a threat to be taken seriously, as gigantic storms that cause flooding in fields and canyons will occur randomly. Guerilla Games also announced that there should be no loading screen, or at least very fast ones, thanks to the PS5's SSD.
There's still no release date for Horizon Forbidden West, but a release window has been announced for 2021, on PS5 exclusively.
