The second day of the FNCS won by BenjyFishy was unfortunately marred by suspicions of cheating. Well-founded accusations or innuendos from unqualified players?
The identified concern of the "soft-aim"
Fortnite's competitions have not been spared by cheaters. Players like Kquid or SerpentAU have even been found guilty and punished, proving that no one is above the rules or above temptation. It must be said that the sporting (qualification) and financial (cash-prize) stakes are extremely high. Recently, the phenomenon of "soft-aim" has spread and raises questions.
The soft-aim is a slightly different version of the classic aim-bot. It is less visible and blatant, but just as effective. To put it simply, you just need to shoot close to the enemy (especially their head) to hit them. With hindsight, the travel time of the bullets, and the shift in the image you have a chance to go incognito. Recently Team Liqui player Cented had pointed out this increasingly widespread concern that plagues Fortnite competitions.
Charges against specific players
In the last round of the FNCS, raised on social networks actions at least ... questionable. We let you make your own opinion on the videos. In any case, the reactions of the other French-speaking players are rather unanimous and go in his direction.
L1nk's case is all the more complicated as he finished the first to qualify for the last FNCS in 3rd place, thus offering him a ticket for the Grand Final in addition to $ 3,500. He has been playing competitions regularly since 2019 and while accusations of cheating are true, his presence calls into question the competitive integrity of many other events. The suspicions are all the more weighty as we have little information on this player who is not affiliated with any structure. We only know that he is Russian and that he is very active on Twitch.
UPDATE — August 8
In a previous version of this article, we had wrongly implicated the player Daniel "Dubs" Paul Walsh, member of FaZe Clan. In reality, the player who was pointed out in the video clip caught killing enemies through elements of the set is a mysterious player who answers to the name of "Dubs Fn".
This copycat went so far as to take in-game the twitter account name of the professional player (@Dubfn). We apologize for the confusion, the real Dubs has nothing to do with this case and should never have been mentioned.
As for the copycat, we'll now have to see if he's also a cheat. We're still waiting for Epic Games' reaction.
