Last December, the Bilibili group — a video sharing site based in China and owner among others of the League of Legends Bilibili Gaming (BLG) team playing in LPL — won the exclusive broadcasting rights in China for the World Championship. This contract, contested between the main Chinese online broadcasters, had already cost them the trifle of 800 million RMB (Renminbi), or about 113.35 million dollars.
Bilibili has just signed a new three-year agreement with Riot Games granting them the exclusive rights to broadcast all international events in China (Worlds, MSI, and All-Star).
This three-year contract, worth $ 113 million, will begin to run from fall 2020, the launch date of the tenth edition of the World Championships. Beyond broadcasting rights, Bilibili will produce original streaming and on-demand content around the various competitions, in particular content featuring retired professional players such as Jian "Uzi" Zi-Hao and Ming "Clearlove" Kai. A special documentary co-produced by Bilibili, Riot Games, and TJ Sports celebrating the 10th anniversary of the World Cup will also be broadcast.
