If you watched the prelude to the Fortnite Champion Series last weekend, you may have been struck by the extreme ease with which Mongraal, Tayson and Mitro climbed to the top of the podium — 223 points, compared to 190 points for the runners-up. In addition to their respective talents, the chosen spawn also helped a lot.
The trio had chosen to land at Stark Industries, a new location in Chapter 2 Season 4. The place is one of the few to contain a chest full of weapons and items. Knowing that Mongraal, Tayson and Mitro weren't much contested on their spawn during the finals, the quality of their equipment was decisive at all games.
It's the composition of their stuffs at the end of these games that will interest us here.
HzExtinct has compiled on Twitter the final equipment of the players on the six games of the second final session.
What is very striking here is the priority given to Stark Energy Rifles over the more classic AR. Not enough to dethrone the SPAS of course in late game, but this totally new weapon seems to have entered the meta. Extremely precise, it inflicts no less than 41 damage in its Legendary version. The weapon is also very good for destroying structures.
As its name suggests, it will only be found in specific places: Stark Industries (of course) but also the Quinjet landing sites.
A true test for FNCS Season 4, this prelude augurs a very polarized meta on Stark technology, rather than heroic powers. Seeing the traditional AR disappear in late games in favor of other weapons is almost a first in the Chapter 2 history of the battle royale.
