PlayStation has tweaked the way trophies work. The rewards are given out for certain achievements in games, and appear with a satisfying ding on the corner of the screen when unlocked.
The first change is the trophy levels. Before, the range went from 1-100, but now it will go up to 999. This means that a trophy level 12 will jump up to somewhere in the 200s, according to PlayStation Blog.
Trophies will also have a new level calculation system that's "more optimized and rewarding." There are now four trophy levels: Bronze (1-299), Silver (300-599), Gold (600-998), and Platinum at 999. They increase faster at the start.
The trophy level icon will be updated for PlayStation 5, and the PlayStation App at some point in the future. Sony also announced that previously earned trophies will travel to the PS5. The changes will be automatically implemented.
