Valorant continues to attract esports teams and organizations, despite the competitive scene still being in its emergent state. After setting up an all-male team named Cloud9 Blue, the American organization has decided to strike hard.
It recently announced the signing of an all-female Valorant team, previously known as Team MAJKL. This roster previously won the first female-only tournament hosted by Nerd Street Gamers, the FTW Summer Showdown — proving that Cloud9 intends to continue its rise in Riot Games' new FPS.
With the acquisition, the team has assumed the name Cloud9 White. The roster is as follows:
- Alexis "alexis" Guarrasi
- Annie "AnnieDro" Roberts
- Jasmine "Jazzyk1ns" Manankil
- katsumi
- Melanie "meL" Capone
According to Gaylen Malone, Cloud9 General Manager, the organization wants this new roster to compete in tournaments played predominantly by men.
Unlike other organizations such as Dignitas, the goal isn't to make Cloud9 White a team exclusively dedicated to playing against all-women teams.
This is great news for the inclusion of women in the esports industry. If the gamble proves successful, other esports organizations may follow Cloud9's lead and build female or mixed rosters.
