Fortnite competitions aren't playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S yet

Fortnite tournaments and competitions won't be playable on next-generation consoles at their release. However, Epic Games has indicated that the issue is under review and will be resolved as soon as possible.

Fortnite competitions aren't playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S yet

On paper, Epic Games had everything in place for Fortnite's transition to next-generation consoles — increased graphics quality, new effects, a gift to celebrate the devices... Except for the competitive branch, which seems to have fallen by the wayside!

The publisher announced that the tournaments in the Competitions tab will be purely and simply inaccessible to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will be unable to compete in tournaments temporarily as we work on addressing some issues we found in testing. We'll let you know when these consoles will be able to access tournaments. Arena playlists will still be available.

Fortunately, the arrival of the new consoles comes at a time when Fortnite's competitive calendar is at a standstill. The FNCS and DreamHack Open are behind us, and aside from a few Cash Cups and fun tournaments in collaboration with Marvel, competitors won't have much to get their teeth into during the following weeks.

Epic Games should in any case solve this major issue very quickly, which is detrimental to both its game and the next-gen consoles. If the problem persists, PS5 or Xbox Series X/S owners will have to be careful to reconnect their old consoles if they wish to participate in a tournament.

Fortnite's next Super Series skin has just been teased: it will be Black Widow. As for Ghost Rider, a fun tournament will allow the best players to get a preview of the outfit.
