Against Apple, Epic Games isn't ready to bury the hatchet. The publisher behind Fortnite has just filed a new lawsuit with the Australian courts, while the case seems set to last a long time on the US side.
In an official press release, Epic Games explains that it's launching proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia. At the state level, Epic Games is accusing Apple of violating consumer law and several excerpts from the Competition and Consumer Act of 2010.
Epic is carrying out a second legal offensive on another continent, following a first lawsuit started in the United States this summer, which seems to be bogged down over time — with the next hearing in May 2021.
Epic Games hasn't changed its position in the meantime: the publisher continues to set itself up as the protective paragon for game and software creators in the face of Apple's "absolute monopoly".
They entered into open war on August 13 after Epic set up its own payment system in Fortnite — bypassing the store usually taxed at 30% by Apple. The Californian firm then withdrew the battle royale from its App Store in retaliation.
