We're at the verge of the greatest battle the world of Fortnite has ever known. This Tuesday, December 1, starting at 1:00 AM (PT), a live event will take place in-game. It will pit the inhabitants of Apollo Island against Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds.
Twice the size of the largest Fortnite event to date, the fight against Galactus will most likely result in millions of simultaneous connections to Fortnite. Epic Games is warning players about potential server issues due to the overloading of the mass audience.
It's essential to connect to the game approximately 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the event.
As usual, the other game modes will be deactivated before the event, and there will be only one playable game mode left: the one where the event will take place. Don't worry as in this game mode players won't be able to kill each other, and you won't be able to skip the event in the loading screen that takes you back to the main menu.
What do I do if I can't connect?
It can happen that the servers are capped, to avoid the general bug. If you get stuck outside the game just as the event doors open, don't panic. There are other ways to enjoy the show without being a player, through YouTube and Twitch live.
Just before the beginning of the event, we'll provide you in this article with links to content creators streaming the event live.
How to fully enjoy the show?
There are a few tips to take into account to have a good live event.
- Install and update your game long before the event begins.
Installing Fortnite, or its latest patches may take time if your connection is average. If you haven't played the game for a while, we strongly recommend you take a look at the launcher and update your Fortnite upstream, to make sure you're ready on time.
- Make space!
If your device is a bit capricious, put it in the best possible conditions. Clean your PC before the event, and close the other unnecessary tabs. It would be a shame to suffer lags and freezes in the middle of the show!
- Style is important.
This event is likely to be very spectacular. It would be a shame not to see it all because you're wearing a massive skin, with a cape and a bulky back bling. Favor an intermediate silhouette. That goes for the glider too! If we have to fly to fight Galactus, choose a discreet umbrella rather than an XXL glider that blocks the view.
Finally, keep in mind that this event will definitely put superheroes at the center of the battle. For roleplaying the event, it might be interesting to put on your favorite Marvel superhero skin. Even if it's nice to have an outfit from the standard Fortnite universe, it can also be fun!
