Exotic weapons always add a little extra to Fortnite games, especially competitive ones – but on occasion a weapon provides too much of an edge. Player feedback has resulted in Epic removing the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle because of this very reason. The weapon isn’t stronger when it comes to stats, but allowing players to know which areas will be surrounded by storms in advance does provide an unfair advantage.
The decision to remove the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle was made just hours before this season’s Fortnite Champions Series was beginning – one that seems to be have been welcomed by the community of pro and semi-pro players.
For non-ranked modes you can still get a hold of the Storm Scout Sniper Rifle from Lexa, in Hunters Haven, for 1225 Gold Bars.
Epic Games has learned to keep an eye on the new weapons being deployed in Fortnite’s arsenal – especially when it comes to competitive modes. We all remember the famous Infinity Blade, accessible shortly before the Winter Skirmish 2018. The publisher has since calmed down, and it has become rare for a "fun" weapon to disturb the balance of major tournaments.
