Announcing the news on his Twitter account, 16-year old Fortnite star Clix suggested that the Twitch ban is permanent.
This is the result of the suspension being his third strike on the streaming platform, although given Twitch policy is to not disclose publicly the reasons for bans. He previously received penalties in both 2019 and 2020.
Frequently pulling in thousands of viewers and having won almost $250,000 in competitive Fortnite, Clix is one of the more well-known names in the professional scene. He formerly represented Misfits Gaming, finishing in the top 20 in the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Solo tournament, before joining NRG in the summer of 2020.
Since the ban was announced, the #FreeClix hashtag has trended #1 the US on Twitter, but also appeared in trending lists as far away as Australia. His plight has drawn support from other big names in the Fortnite scene, such as FaZe Clan star Sway.
Whether or not the #FreeClix campaign will ultimately work is anyone's guess, but the controversy over inconsistencies in how Twitch deals with bans nevertheless continues.
