Animal Crossing: New Horizons is welcoming new residents for the first time. A new crossover with the Sanrio Amiibo cards will add six new villagers in March.

With the February update just released, Nintendo released a new trailer packed with information for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With the Sanrio Amiibo coming in March 2021, we’ll be seeing six new Hello Kitty themed villagers.

The Amiibo Sanrio cards will be available for purchase exclusively from Target on March 26. Scanning these cards will add new items and additional characters to Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Who are the new villagers?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Rilla

Rilla is a gorilla who is part of the Hello Kitty universe. By summoning her Amiibo card, you will receive a Hello Kitty outfit and be able to get Rilla to settle on your island. Rillo also has a wonderful home filled with Hello Kitty furniture that will be available for purchase in the game.

Marty

This character is part of the universe of Pompompurin and will also allow you to unlock new clothes and exclusive items.

Etoile is part of the Little Twin Stars universe.

A major update on March 18

Nintendo tells us that Sanrio furniture and characters will be available with the March 18 update. It's possible we might even see a special anniversary patch.
