As part of VALORANT's patch 2.09, the game has received its next game mode!
Previously, we have seen the likes of Snowball Fight and Escalation, but now Replication is here to play. Replication will replace Escalation while it is live for two weeks. After this time, Riot are hoping to have a rotating game mode, although more information is waiting to come on that.
As has been teased over the past few days, Replication with be an 'all-for-one' style game. Players on your team will be will all play the same Agent. This could mean a team of Sages versus a team of Brimstones, for example.
While it is a for-fun mode, it isn't just aimed at casual gamers. The hope is that players will find and have fun with the plentiful combinations. Five Sage walls protecting the Spike anyone?
That said, there are some balance changes so it will remain in a fun and healthy state.
Replication will have the same rules as Bo9 Unrated, with time adjustments. 80 second round length, Abilities are refreshed each round, except for Ultimates which gain +1 point per round at the start of the round (excluding Overtime).
To start the game, players will go into a modified Agent selection screen where they will vote who they want to play as, and everyone plays whichever Agent gets the most votes.
Players have a set amount of Credits each round, regardless of win/loss. Guns/Shields are reset each round too.
The main balance change is that being flashed twice within a 4 second window grants FLASHGUARD. FLASHGUARD means the player cannot be blinded, and lasts 5 seconds.
