Following three splits as Cloud9's starting roster, Zven finds himself demoted to the organization's Academy team for the upcoming North American League of Legends Summer Split.
The move comes despite Cloud9 taking all the honours in the Spring Split, heading up the table in the regular season before defeating rivals Team Liquid 3-2 in the Mid-Season Showdown Grand Finals.
However, they failed to progress from the Rumble Stage at MSI, finishing fifth out of six teams.
Meanwhile, Cloud9 Academy were successful in the Academy League, finishing top of the pile and securing runner-up position in the Proving Grounds. The Australian aso helped the org secure first place in the 2020 Academy League, and has competed in one World Championship and two MSI events with Oceania side Dire Wolves.
Mithy takes the reigns for Summer 2021
In other news, Cloud9 announced that Head Coach Kim "Reignover" Yeu-jin would be stepping down from the role after a single split. The former player cited personal issues, and the position 'taking a toll on his mental health' pre-MSI.
The organization switched roles at MSI, with Alfonso "Mithy" Aguirre Rodríguez assuming the Head Coach role and Reignover taking on a more supporting role. With it working out for both coaches, the org and the players felt that it would make for a beneficial move overall.
The LCS Summer Split begins on June 4.
