Ubisoft Connect to launch new chat feature tomorrow

Ubisoft had previously removed the chat feature in order to rework it, but from tomorrow you’ll be able to chat via Ubisoft Connect. Here's what you need to know.

Ubisoft Connect to launch new chat feature tomorrow

Ubisoft had previously removed the chat feature from Ubisoft Connect — previously known as Uplay and Ubisoft Club — in order to rework it to “align it with the rest of the Ubisoft Connect experience”. The new chat service will be available on the desktop app and PC overlay.

The new chat service will be more stable reliable, and provide players with a “safe and friendly environment”.

Some of the changes which will be coming with the new chat service:

  • All existing active one-on-one chats will be deleted along with the chat history
  • Group chats will be capped at a max of 24 members, any existing groups which exceed the limit will be removed
  • Chat logs will be encrypted, and stored for three months. They will only be decrypted in the event of an investigation

The new overlay was originally intended to be deployed today, however Ubisoft tweeted that it would be postponed until June 1.
