The alien invasion is over in competitive Fortnite matches. Epic Games made the decision to remove UFOs from Arena, as well as from upcoming tournaments.
Eliminating the spaceships, according to Epic, is a decision made with the aim of improving the performance of the servers.
The decision was tremendously well received by the entire community, and especially by professional players. Pros have been tremendously critical of these vehicles, citing them being a tremendous unbalanced tool that has decided games when they went to the wire.
Epic Games has long been blamed for allowing "too powerful" weapons and vehicles to swarm competitive modes. Everyone remembers the infamous episode of the sword in December 2018. And subsequently there were other examples of items that turned out to be completely unsuitable for the competition. The BRUTE exo-armor, for example.
Since the launch of Season 7, many professionals have stepped forward to denounce the "oppressive" nature of UFOs.
As you can see from the clip above, getting the attention of a UFO and its aerial superiority is not at all fun, especially when a good player is in control.
Remember, however, that this removal only concerns competitive modes. In all other game modes, the UFOs can still be used.
