Since the launch of the PlayStation 5, Sony have announced new accessories for it — including the new DualSense controller charging station, Pulse 3D wireless headset, a media remote controller, and a HD camera. They also announced the PSVR2 — a virtual reality headset, and until now there was no release date in sight.
According to an article from Bloomberg, the virtual reality headset from Sony could be released late next year, just in time for the holidays. It also looks like the VR headset will be using OLED panels. This will offer better colours and resolution, unlike the LCD panels used by competitors.
Previous leaks have also revealed that the headset would have a USB-C connection, and cameras to track the position of the controllers. Rumours also suggest that it could use eye-tracking capabilities to simulate how human eyes perceive the world.
So you already know what to add to your Christmas wishlist — and hope that there won’t be a shortage of stock, as has been the case with the consoles.
With more than five million copies of the original PSVR sold, the stakes are high for Sony. The promises made by its recently unveiled controllers are rather encouraging —it now remains to be seen if the PSVR2 will live up to those.
