Generally known for their reluctance to remove weapons which had been deemed too powerful in competitive modes, it seems the developers of Fortnite have now changed their minds. Within three days, the Rail Gun, Recon Scanner, Animals, and IO Guards were removed from the arena and tournaments.
Epic Games explained that they made this choice so that they could "offer a better experience in high level matches".
This is a move that has received praise from the competitive community.
It seems that all of the new items in Season 7 distort the Battle Royale at the highest level. The Rail Gun is too oppressive, the Recon Scanner is too powerful and the sharks are annoying when there's a duel near the water.
Pros need extremely healthy meta to make games playable, and not too frustrating. Ans with these two successive waves of withdrawals,it appears that the novelties are not balanced enough for high levels. As Antoine "Papasss " Pasquier, the coach of the Fortnite roster of Solary, sums it up so well,"Fortnite needs to think about items with several levels of complexity to satisfy pro and casual".
There are so many withdrawals that right now the ranked and unranked modes of the game are totally different. And when it comes to trying to complete weekly challenges in Arena mode, it's almost impossible as the new elements of the season are missing.
