It seems that Death Stranding Director's Cut, the newest version of Hideo Kojima and his team's original creation, won't be available on either PlayStation 4 or PC. According to the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board), it may be exclusive for PlayStation 5 owners.
During the Summer Game Fest, Director Hideo Kojima showed a surprise for Death Stranding fans: a new version of the game was being developed. The trailer even paid tribute to the original Metal Gear Solid way of avoiding enemies: inside a box.
While it wasn't confirmed exactly what this version is bringing to the table, it was said that it will feature new content and next-gen improvements. Kojima explained that the pandemic "has affected" his way of thinking about game design, so he is trying to apply his new mindset into this new version. Regarding platforms, the trailer marked it as a PS5 exclusive and this remained as an open question.
However, the situation might have changed with the ESRB information. While this can't be used as a legit confirmation, it's worth mentioning that many times the ESRB descriptions end up being true. Considering that the title released on PC, it would be strange that this Director's Cut is only a PS5 exclusive —perhaps a temporary exclusive?
