One of the least competitive spaces in the world of video games is with football titles. The FIFA and PES/eFootball franchises have always been considered too powerful to challenge, with few titles released to challenge them.
That is about to change with UFL, a title revealed at Gamescom 2021 that promises to be a real alternative to the two giants.
Criticism of FIFA in its presentation
Of the title itself, only two characteristics have been revealed. The first is that it will be a free-to-play experience, a path recently taken by Konami with its rebranding to eFootball.
The second and somewhat more controversial was the premise that it will be "fair to play", a play on words that hints at fairer systems than EA's aggressively pushed Ultimate Team mode.
