Tomorrow will be marked by the #ADayOffTwitch campaign, led by Twitch content creators demanding change from the streaming giant over continuous targeted hate raids.
The platform spoke on August 11 about these organized harassment campaigns, which have grown in frequency recently, with the aim of harming certain streamers.
Measures have been expected for some time, but creators' voices have fallen on deaf ears. As a result, they have decided to mobilise with the Twitch blackout.
Almost a month after the company promised to take serious and effective measures to stop the waves of hate sweeping across its platform, nothing (or very little) has changed.
Content creators, led by Rek It, Raven, LuciaEverBlack and Shineypen, have organized a protest movement and a call to action to raise awareness among viewers, through strike action.
ADayOffTwitch asks content creators and viewers to stay off Twitch throughout Wednesday, although some believe that nothing will change and that it's 'useless' to carry out this strike.
Regardless of what streamers think about the usefulness of this collective mobilization, they all seem to agree broadly: Twitch needs to act quickly to end hate raids.
