Operation: Sky Fire, the season-ending event in Fortnite, will take the form of a new temporary game mode.
The alien invasion reaches its climax in the event, with Professor Slone and the Imagined Order aiming to put a stop to it -- this time for good.
As with all season-ending events, Epic has already started releasing teasers well in advance.
One such teaser talks of blueprints and backpacks 'charged and ready', implying some kind of technology used to help repel the aliens.
According to Epic, the event sees players join a 'strike team' to sneak aboard the Mothership and 'deliver IO's final message to the invading Aliens'.
The playlist will go live 30 minutes before the event start, so that players can team up and get prepared. You can have a lobby of up to 16 friends, for those who would like to play together.
Content creators are advised to record their experiences, as replays will be disabled for the duration of Operation Sky Fire.
The event kicks off on Sunday, September 12 at 4pm ET / 9pm BST.
Epic Games has revealed the next exclusive skins that will be offered to Fortnite Club subscribers in September, October, and November. These are part of The First Shadows theme, and include Burning Wolf, Chaos Origins, and Sierra.
