Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg made League of Legends' LCS history. With 6 championship titles and 4 MVP titles, the Danish midlaner is known as a reference in the north american midlane. Bjergsen arrived in TSM in 2013 and is still part of the team today as a headcoach. He could be about to write a new chapter thought. Retired for almost a year, he would be ready to be back as a player. If rumors relayed by Upcomer are to be believed, Bjergsen is reportedly looking for a new team for next year. A return to TSM is possible, but the 25-year-old veteran is said to be open to other proposals as well.
Bjergsen is a renown name in the League of Legends universe. His retirement is still recent and if his mechanics are still up to date, he should have no trouble finding a contract. His charisma, experience and marketing value are important too. On top of that, Bjergsen was not idle for a year. Even though TSM failed to qualify for Worlds, the Dane has spent his year strategizing, organizing practice and keeping up to date with the game developments.
Bjergsen would not be the first coach to go back to playing on the Rift: Kazu participated in the last MSI or even Jesiz who returned to LEC this year.
Seeing Bjergsen as a player again would surely be heartwarming and no one doubts his abilities, problem is that he needs to find his place in the LCS.
On the TSM side, even if Bjergsen represents a lot, it is not sure that he is currently better than PowerOfEvil, a player that signed until the end of 2022. Bringing the Dane back is enticing, but taking PoE out of the team is a big risk.
Bjergsen owning shares in TSM could also be a problem while looking to get into another team. So for now the community will have to wait and see if the rumors become reality and how Bjergsen could be back in League of Legends as a player.
