Mobile Fortnite players' fears have come true with the verdict handed down by the court in the Apple vs Epic Games saga. While the decision leaves developers free to integrate options that circumvent Apple's cut of in-game purchases, the US giant has opted against reinstating Epic's development account until appeals are completed, something that could take several years.
Epic CEO Tim Sweeney stated in an explosive Twitter thread that Apple has 'reneged', and that the move is 'another abuse of its monopoly power over a billion users'.
Citing 'statements made since the court's decision' among other things, Apple have stated that they have 'exercised its discretion not to reinstate Epic's developer program account'.
This prompted Sweeney's thread on Twitter.
The battle between the two companies has become more bitter since Epic took the step of adding alternative payment in Fortnite on iOS in August last year, to circumvent Apple's 30% cut of revenue. Apple responded by removing the title from its App Store in retaliation.
