CD Projekt Red breaks its silence regarding The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen versions

Is it time to finally enjoy CD Projekt Red's two biggest games on our next-gen consoles? Yes, but not before 2022.

In a new statement, CD Projekt Red officially announced the release dates for the next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Persistent rumours about the titles being released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, following a PEGI rating, forced the Polish studio to provide a statement to GamesRadar+ earlier this month.

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S are new platforms for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, so the game had to be submitted for age classification on these platforms specifically. This is standard procedure and the date mentioned on PEGI's website is the rating's issue date.

However, now CDPR have clarified the release dates in a post on the company's Twitter account.

Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be released on next-gen consoles in the first quarter of 2022, while we will have to wait until the second quarter to see Geralt of Rivia in 4K.

As stated in the press release, these are only targeted quarters - there is no guarantee that either game will be released on the dates specified.
