Riot Games is having a hard time keeping what's coming to League of Legends a secret. We saw it with the case of Bel'Veth, a champion who has been the subject of numerous leaks. However, it's not always because of leaks that new features are released early. Sometimes it's the developer's own partners who make a mistake that gives a glimpse of the game's future . That's exactly what happened this time around with a skin that hints at the big event of the summer.
Star Guardians Return to League of Legends
The issue appeared in a video posted by the Korean League of Legends account. It shows the changes brought by the recently released 12.10 patch and introduces the new return to base animations that will be distributed as rewards to the most honorable players. The problem is, when it was shown on different champions , it featured a skin for Rell that has yet to be unveiled and matches the Star Guardian theme . A theme whose return has been rumored for some time and which should therefore return to the game very soon.
Various leaks have hinted at the possibility of this theme returning to the game over the past few months, and now Riot Games seems to have confirmed it following an error. The dates are still to be determined, but everything suggests that the Star Guardians will be the big event of the summer and that they should join the title in mid-July . This is when such events take place. This is what happened for the last two years with Fleur Spirituelle and that of the Sentinels which revolved around Viego, the Fallen King.
Beyond the skins and their possible release date, it's unclear what the main mechanics of the event will be or what Riot Games plans to do about it. It seems very likely that Rell's skin will be joined by a cosmetic on Kai'Sa, but either way, there could be a dozen skins to be released that haven't been unveiled yet. Finally, we'd also like to point out that the summer event is still the biggest event of the year, and while that wasn't the case with Sentinels, it's also a player favourite.
