Journalist Tom Henderson's site starts off with a bang, with a little scoop about a new PS5 model. According to its sources, this version would be identical to the one we all know, with the exception of a rather strange little peculiarity: closer to a new revision of the machine than to a real new version like the PlayStation Pro and Slim, this "D chassis" would be tipped to replace the three iterations of PS5 already present on the market.
A detachable disk drive
This is the novelty mentioned in the rumor published on this new news site: the D chassis of the PS5 will include a detachable disc drive connected to a USB-C port reserved for this purpose . It is still difficult to see what this will change in practice, even if the savings in the event of reader replacement are obvious. This should not detract from the particular look of the console, with a detachable device, of course, but which blends with the rest of the shell. Finally, the disc player could be sold alone or in a bundle with the PlayStation 5.
Nothing to get excited about
Exclusive info on a “new PS5” is indeed a very nice way to launch your site, but from our point of view there is nothing to get up at night.
First of all because the revisions of PS5 do not bring anything concrete from the point of view of the user experience: no hardware modification is associated with this new chassis , if you are a day one buyer (already you have had lucky), don't worry: it's not this model that will supplant your console bought 2 years ago. We also have to see if this project sees the production lines one day and if so, see at what price this famous disc player will be sold.
As a reminder, the price of the PS5 rose to €550 a few weeks ago, as the machine is preparing to welcome God of War Ragnarok, one of its biggest exclusives of the year.
