The Need for Speed Unbound trailer gave fans their first look at the new cel-shaded art style , which reflects the franchise's return to its street racing roots, as well as the contribution of rapper A $AP Rocky , who will have his own character in the new game.

Need for Speed Unbound, developer Criterion 's long-awaited return to the video game racing scene, will leverage next-gen technologies to deliver 4K and 60fps visuals, all in an open-world, cel-shaded environment , graphic novelty of the title . The game will include an offline single-player mode and cross-play, but no cross-progression.

An immersive single-player mode
Criterion focuses on the strengths of the series , while developing and reworking many aspects of the gameplay : "If I had to sum it all up about what we're trying to do here, we're trying to make the player feel like an underground street racer [...]", explains Crimmins.
This will likely be reflected in Need for Speed Unbound's single- player mode , which will feature a "completely new campaign structure" . This single-player campaign will also include what Criterion describes as an "immersive story" .
“We made each of these characters into full-fledged characters this time around,” says Crimmins. "They have little stories, they have personalities, they have their own style and car customization and you can see them driving." It is assumed that this will also be the case for the character played by rapper A$AP Rocky.
Need for Speed Unbound will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC on December 2.
