After Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, Konami has just announced its partnership with "The Old Lady", Juventus of Turin. But this time it's an exclusive partnership and that means a number of things for eFootball PES 2020, but above all for FIFA 20.
Indeed, Konami's announcement rings out a few weeks before the release of the next opus of the two competitors. It has now been several seasons since PES had had the exclusivity on a top 5 club in the world, because if partnerships with South American clubs such as Boca Juniors had a slight impact on the licensing of EA Sports, this time it's a very major move that the American publisher won't be able to make you forget so easily.
To put it simply, FIFA 20 will not have Juventus Turin, but an equivalent club with an unofficial name from EA Sports: "Piemonte Calcio".
The publisher therefore quickly communicated on the subject to explain the consequences of this loss on its next game:
- "Piemonte Calcio" will be a new team that can be played as a kick-off, career mode and Volta with a badge and personalized jerseys.
- "Piemonte Calcio" will be made up of real players in FIFA 20 and FUT 20.
- The collective of "Piemonte Calcio" players will not be affected in FUT 20.
So we will find the players with their real names and faces in the main game and FUT mode, but as for Carlos Tevez this year, the club crest will not be official either.
After several seasons spent gradually catching up with the king of the market by offering a better gameplay, PES is finally getting to the heart of the problem, the one that puts it in second place and not first: licenses. With this major move, Konami is relaunching the war of football simulations more than ever.
