On Reddit, nagaVRCat just presented the first gameplay images of Zenith, a Virtual Reality MMORPG set in a fantastic and futuristic world inspired by Japanese animated series (he's making reference to Hayao Miyazaki and Final Fantasy 14). Except for Orbus VR, MMO games don't really spread on the VR market. However, Zenith — developed by Raven VR, a studio founded by Andy Tsen and Lauren Frazier, two former members of Strike Team (Conjure Strike) — should be released as a cross-platform game on Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index and PSVR.
The release date is still unknown but it seems that the game will be available in early-access around July 2020. However, if you absolutely want to try it out, some playtests are open on the official Discord.
Even though the final result might be a lot different from what we see in this prototype video, graphics quality — as well as the fighting system and weather effects — seems to predict a big success.
About the fighting system, with one colored saber in each of your hands, it's quite hard not to think about Beat Saber. You just have to follow lines drawn on enemies with your right hand to attack them while the left is used to cast special abilities. Ranged fights should also be implemented, as well as a transportation system in order to avoid motion sickness.
