In a recent /devblog, Riot Games decided to talk about the future of the different game modes within League of Legends. It was almost obvious, and now we can say it out loud: Teamfight Tactics will join Riot's games panel as a permanent mode.
In addition, Nexus Raid, ARAM and URF modes will soon make their comeback... but it will be the last season of the Twisted Treeline. Yes, you heard us well: the 3v3 mode is going to be removed from the client.
Twisted Treeline
The Twisted Treeline was one of the first alternative game modes, with its own meta, its own tier lists, but it always suffered from its lack of popularity. Even though it received a graphic update in 2012, even though new items were added, this game mode never had enough players to create a good gaming experience.
Don't be afraid if you reached Gold, Riot Games will award you properly with your Victorious skins. However, don't expect chromas: Riot noticed that some players were playing in 3v3 exclusively for the chromas.
Give me more URF already
How long before Riot realizes that this game mode should be a permanent one? Last time, we had the chance to enjoy the URF mode for 42 days, instead of the classical 16 days. As a result, Riot finally noticed the popularity of Ultra Rapid Fire mode. Stay tuned and cross your fingers!
Nexus Raid returns!
This game mode was supposed to be the first permanent addition to the client, but Riot noticed that people became bored quite quickly. If you liked this mode, brace yourselves — because it will soon make its return as a temporary mode.
I'm just playing ARAM
Riot Games will keep updating and balancing this game mode, following their new strategy that aims at long-termed development. If players have been troubled by the latest changes, they did not change the frequency they're playing this mode — even with the new Bilgewater version of ARAM.
