It is with your emotions that Arise: A Simple Story intends to play, whether love and joy, or anger and sadness. The title is the debut of the young Barcelona-based Piccolo Studio, and will be published by Techland Publishing.
Born of the desire to encourage everyone to think about their own lives, Arise aims to surprise you at all times. It due to be released on December 3, 2019 on PS4. Notably, the soundtrack comes from the mind of Spanish composer David García Diaz (Hellblade, RiME, Deadlight) — a good omen.
The story begins at the foot of a funeral pyre. As you wake up in limbo, a mysterious light draws you to the top of a snow-covered mountain. You have to reach it, and doing so will lead to a poetic journey through the different stages of your life — with both moments of happiness and much more tragic moments.
The odyssey of the deceased hero takes him through magnificent landscapes that will evolve according to his feelings. A unique quirk is that if you sometimes feel like you've wasted your time, you can play around with it, especially to prolong the good moments.
