As with every week, players have been on the lookout for the weekly news on Destiny 2 — This Week at Bungie! This is the last edition before the launch of Shadowkeep, and the studio has provided us with the latest information about changes in combat, progress, economy, update notes, and more.

Combat Changes

Bungie have made changes to the display of damage in PvE, without changing the damage that players will do. The symbolic damage limit of 999,999,999 should therefore no longer be reached.

The difficulty and fighting against superior enemies was also reviewed. It is now possible to inflict damage on enemies up to 100 power levels higher than the player (currently 50), after which they will be immune. The damage received and inflicted was therefore modified for fighters with 10 to 40 power points higher, and even higher.

Progression and Economy Changes

Shadowkeep marks the transition to a new year for Destiny 2, so Bungie have planned significant changes on power sources in existing activities and how to progress for our guards.

  • All powerful reward sources in Year 2 are replaced by legendary rewards and can no longer give exotic (except exotic quests).
  • The power levels for season 8 are as follows: minimum threshold 750, soft cap 900, hard cap 950 and prestige cap 960 (maximum possible excluding artifact bonus).
  • Any new guardian will be level 50 and 750 of power after the introduction mission to New Light. The experience gained will now be used for the season pass and artifact.
  • Non-powerful rewards will now give equipment 0 to 3 points below maximum power (compared to 15 to 20 points below currently).
  • Bonus Exotics that drop from Nightfall: The Ordeal will drop at the character’s highest equippable Power level
  • The perfect engrams will not appear until your guardian has reached the soft cap, or 900 power. The power gains of the latter have also been rebalanced.
  • The shiny dust (currency for the cosmetics shop) is now obtained through weekly and repeatable contracts (proof, gambit and avant-garde). Everversum items will no longer offer shiny dust when dismantled. Squad medallions are removed from the shop and can be dismantled against shiny dust.
  • Exchanges with the Spider are being reviewed: it now exchanges materials from all planets, daily contracts will now give etheric spirals and research contracts no longer give equipment.

Patch Note 2.6.0

Bungie gives us the notes for the next Update on October 1, we have listed the most important ones:

  • Added rally banners for Year 1 raids.
  • “The Shattered Throne” Dungeon is now available at all times instead of on a three-week cycle and it can also be launched and reset from the Director
  • Black Armory forges are available via a program from the Director and will no longer offer materials in case of failure during the 1st fight.

Ritual weapons

With Season 8, Prestige weapons are replaced by ritual weapons that no longer have any special attributes. Indeed, the development team confides that Prestige weapons had become extremely powerful, even more powerful than some exotic ones. The effectiveness of some attributes will even be reduced in PvE in order to rebalance the meta. The attributes concerned are: butchery, deadly loader, fier-à-bras, multi-lethal loader, desperado, encirclement, arms control and aggression.

Raid Rewards

Last week, Bungie unveiled some of the rewards of the new raid. We now have all the rewards that players will be able to obtain around the release of the new "Garden of Salvation" raid scheduled for Saturday, October 5.

  • A belt for each of the 6 players of the world premiere.
  • An exclusive emblem for players finishing the Raid in challenge mode for the first 24 hours.
  • An emblem for all those who finish at least once during the raid.
  • A code allowing access to the sale of the jacket to players who will finish the raid before the weekly reset of 15/10.
  • A Raid T-shirt available for purchase for all players who will finish the raid during season 8 (its design contains spoilers, it will be revealed after the world premiere).
