Information about the PS5 is being released little by little by Sony, but this time it's a huge morsel — confirmation of the console's launch date.
In a blog post, Sony revealed the next-gen console will arrive in stores holiday 2020, as the latest rumors have previously suggested.
Nothing else was mentioned on the matter — so we'll have to wait until a proper unveiling from the manufacturer for more information, including:
- the price of the PS5,
- its exact release date,
- games available at launch.
Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony's PlayStation division, unveiled some additional details about the PS5 controller in the blog post.
Firstly, the rumble feature gets an update through haptic feedback. This will allow the player to feel different types of feedback depending on the player's actions, whether you 'crash into a wall in a race or make a tackle on the football field'.
The second feature is adaptive triggers. These allow developers to program various types of resistance into the trigger buttons. As Ryan explains, it's 'so that you feel the tactile sensation of drawing a bow and arrow or accelerating an off-road vehicle through rocky terrain.'
It seems Sony is looking for a more organic experience with its new console.
