FFXIV Gold Saucer Beginner's Guide

FFXIV What to do in the Gold Saucer

The Gold Saucer is working around the Manderville Gold Saucer points (MGP) currency that you can earn through various activities.

You can exchange these MGPs for prices by talking to the Gold Saucer Attendant in the Gold Saucer (X:5.1 Y:6.6).

NOTE: One of the quickest way to earn a lot of MGPs is to complete your Challenge Logs in the Gold Saucer!

The Gold Saucer attractions include Chocobo racing, Triple Triad card game, Lord of Vermillion, Mahjong and Cactpot. As these are quite complex on there own we'll focus on the other activities for this beginner's guide to make sure you can start earning MGPs easily:

  • GATEs
  • Mini-games
  • Fashion Report

FFXIV GATE Guide

The GATEs in the Gold Saucer are basically the FATEs of the Gold Saucer: events that spawn regularly that you can farm for MGPs.

To enter a GATE you will first need to locate it on your map and then talk to the Client NPC next to it.

There are five types of GATEs:

  • Air Force One: This is an FPS game (really) you'll move automatically and need to shoots target to earn MGPs.
  • Any way the Wind Blows: A mini-game where you need to stay on a platform and avoid being blown away.
  • Cliffhanger: It's time for some parkour, except there are bombs on the way this time.
  • Leap of Faith: This time it's parkour, but without bombs.
  • The Slice Is Right: Avoid falling bamboo and gather pile of MGPs on the ground.

FFXIV Mini-Games Guide

Mini-Games are a good way to earn MGPs too as you can do them again and again and benefit from MGP collection bonuses like during the Make it Rain Campaign.

There are six mini-games available:

  • Crystal Tower Striker: You classic strength test, wait for the gauge to be filled and PAF hit the button.
  • Cuff-a-Cur: Another strength test but can be more difficult, the reward is higher too.
  • Monster Toss: From 20 to 50 MGP make sure to not miss your shots
  • The Moogle's Paw: Try and grab some prices, this game is a very easy way to get little amounts of MGPs.
  • The Finer Miner & Out on a Limb: You're now trying to wing your pick or axe at a precise unknown spot, you can double up your reward up to five times if you're quick enough. This mini-game can be very rewarding if you're good at it.

FFXIV Fashion Report

The Fashion Report is one of the biggest weekly MGPs input, choose a set of clothes according to the hints given by the NPC and get a grade, reaching 80 points will get you 50,000 MGPs in addition of the 10,000 you get from your first attempt.
