The Shadow Priest in WoW Classic is the is a slave to the void, using shadow damage to kill anyone who stands in its way
Tier A (PvE) Tier S (PvP)
The Shadow Priest is perhaps the most famous hybrid specialization of WoW Classic thanks to his formidable Vampiric Embrace which allows it to generate a monumental amount of healing for allies while being able to continue DPS. They are generally a strong Healer choice in instances in 5 or 10 players content and knows how to holds its own in world PvP and BGs. On the other hand, it is weaker in raid and will have only a real job by using Shadow Weaving to the raid since it has serious problems with mana and that it is weaker than the other casters.
At home in 5 player content
Can act as a healer if well geared
great utility
Unique spells depending on race
Can burn enemies mana
Lacks mobility
Poor raid DPS
Forced to stop DPS to use Holy spells
Talents
The two builds presented above are similar in most respects, the only major differences being in the level of talents specifically dedicated to PvE or PvP such as Silent Resolve (PvE) or Improved Psychic Scream(PvP). The PvE build is geared towards increasing your ability to handle your mana effectively in long battles, while the PvP build is more geared toward survival and control of your opponents.
Stats to prioritize
Spell Hit (10% cap)> Spell Power> Mana every 5 seconds> Intelligence> Critical Spell> Spirit
Spell Priority
The idea is rather simple. You start by casting 4 Shadow Word: Pain (Rank 1) in order to quickly stack the Shadow Weaving at a lower cost, then you launch a Shadow Word: Pain(Rank 8) to generate the 5th Shadow weave stack while maximizing damage over the duration of the Shadow Word: Pain with the highest rank of it. Then, you alternate between Mind Flay and Mind Blast until you have no more mana, while keeping Shadow Word: Pain(Rank 8) active by relaunching it from time to time before it dissipates.
The Shadow Priest has huge mana problems, avoid a spamming of Mind Blast if possible. Finally, if you do run out of mana, think of the rest of the raid: cast Mind Flay (Rank 1) continuously to maintain Shadow Weave Stacks to maximize DPS from other players using Shadow Spells.
The Shadow Form is a must-have talent for Shadow Priest since it drastically increases the Shadow damage you deal, which is all your damage. The only downside is that if you cast a holy spell, you will leave this shadow form and will have to restart quickly or lose a lot of DPS.
Note: DwarfFear Ward will cause you to leave Shadowform.
Vampiric Embrace
Vampiric Embrace
Vampiric Embrace is THE Shadow Priests flagship talent, making them one of the must-have classes in both PvE and PvP. especially with Improved Vampiric Embrace, this is an excellent generator of HP for all your allies and will usually make you both a DPS and a healer of choice in PvP or content with 5 or 10 players.
Prayer of Fortitude
Prayer of Fortitude
The Prayer of Fortitude is the same as Power Word: Fortitude but on an entire group and therefore makes the Priest indispensable in any type of content. This is a considerable time and mana gain, especially in raids, but it has a slight cost: a sacred candle per cast.
Best Race For Shadow Priest
Horde
Undead
The real interest of the Undead is the Will of the Forsaken which is excellent in PvP. Apart from that, Cannibalism is interesting in levelling. The only interest they have in PvE is that they have a base of slightly more points of Intelligence and Spirit than other races.
Priest unique skills: Devouring Plague and Touch of Weakness.
Troll
The Berserker is rather powerful for SPEC, it makes Troll one of the best races if you plan to play SPEC. Special mention for Beast Slaying which is useful for leveling or farming.
Priest unique skills: Hex of Weakness and Shadowguard
Alliance
Dwarf
The Dwarf's Stoneform is a serious asset in PvP, especially against Rogues. Frost Resistance is also great against your nemesis: the Frost Mage.
Priest unique skills: Fear Ward and Desperate Prayer
Human
The Human has serious assets making it potentially better than the Orc depending on the chosen build: Mace Specialization and Sword Specialization, Diplomacy is also great when grinding reputation, and Perception is very usefull in PvP.
Priest unique skills: Desperate Prayer and Feedback
World of Warcraft: Classic has a number of races to choose from, and making that choice has long-term consequences. You don't want to regret your choice later, so we've broken down the races in our tier list for WoW: Classic.
Professions
Engineering
The Engineer is the best choice by default as it's great in both PvE and PvP. From Goblin Sapper Charge to the Arcanite Dragonling to the Dense Dynamite, everything about this role will always be useful!
Enchanting
If you do not opt for Engineering, then the Enchanting profession will certainly delight you since it will allow you to make your own enchantments by disenchanting the items you get on the way and in raids/dungeons, but also the ones you make for yourself from Tailoring.
Tailoring
Tailoring is a must-have for the Mage: it allows you to craft pre-raid armour pieces of unparalleled power, including the Robe of the Void. This is the quintessential profession of the Warlock.
