Oil is a resource you extract with the Mining gathering skill in New World. You'll need to have reached at least Mining Skill Lv. 20 to be able to dig up the Oil.
Oil is gathered from Seeping Stones, which aren't particularly common in the low-level starting areas of Aeternum.
You'll find clusters of nodes in Weaver's Fen, Monarch's Bluffs, Cutlass Keys, and First Light.
Weaver's Fen is by far the best place to go if you're farming Oil.
How to obtain more Oil
By following these few tips you can maximise your Oil yield.
Firstly, bake an Orichalcum Miner's Charm when crafting a Pickaxe. This grants the Mining Yield perk, and increases the number of resources gathered when Mining by 19%.
Secondly, when leveling up in a Territory make sure to take the bonus that increases gathering speed in a region. These bonuses can soon add up to 25% or more, meaning you can compete for nodes and earn more resources.
Next, craft the Mining Gathering Trophy and display it in your house once purchased. The Minor version of this trophy will increase your Mining Luck by 500 points, while the Major trophy boosts it by 1500 points. Luck is important in obtaining rare resources.
Finally, consuming food and potions will also increase your output. The following all increase yield when Mining:
- Herb-Roasted Potatoes
- Boiled Potatoes
- Poulty with Roasted Potatoes
- Salted Roasted Potatoes
- Weak Proficiency Booster
- Common Proficiency Booster
- Strong Proficiency Booster
- Powerful Proficiency Booster
Happy farming!
