This guide is a follow-up to our first guide on Fortresses in Harry Potter Wizards Unite, and will help you learn how to take on a Fortress on your own.
What you need to know to succeed in a solo Fortress run
Each Profession (think 'character class' in classic RPGs) has its own strengths, which will allow you to defeat a Fortress without the help of friends.
What is the best profession to make a fortress alone?
There is no one Profession that makes it more possible to solo a Fortress than another, due to the variety of enemies you'll come across.
Each Profession will have to use Healing Potions and Exstimulo Potions to increase their Power as they pass through the different rooms.
In addition, with Lessons, strategic spells and stats, Professions are fairly balanced.
For all information relating to the different Professions, check out our dedicated guides:
Soloing a Fortress as an Auror
In order to solo a Fortress as an Auror, we advise focusing on the left branch of the skill tree in order to maximize Power and Stamina.
Then, it is crucial you take all three levels of The Weakening Hex (Improved Weakness Hex, Weakness Hex Maxima) as well as both levels of The Confusion Hex (Confusion Hex Repetitions).
Once this is done, you will be strongly advised to put the two debuffs on each enemy, knowing that each debuff costs only one Focus point.
Here are the steps to follow in order to defeat your enemies:
- Weakness Hex Maxima to reduce the opponent's Power by up to 50%
- Confusion Hex Repetitions to reduce dodging, defending and breaking defenses
- The Bat-Bogey Hex (0 focus). Possible to spam the spell (6-second cooldown) but only deals 3 damage.
- Do not use The Focus Charm, as it is not useful in solo play.
Soloing a Fortress as an Magizoologist
Magizoologists can recover 30% of their Stamina between each fight thanks to a Stamina Charm that costs 2 Focus points.
To be able to solo a Fortress, Magizoologists will have to heal themselves repeatedly while doing damage. To do this A Bird in Hand will increase Power by 40 if the player has at least 5 Focus points.
It will be necessary to juggle dealing damage and consuming Healing Potions in order to survive while beating your opponents. More importantly, your Revive Charm will not useful here, since there are no other players with you.
The Mending Charm can be useful if you are ever in need of Stamina — despite its low Stamina regeneration (only 4 points), it is spammable because of its low cost.
Soloing a Fortress as an Professor
First of all, you must make sure you have Deterioration Hex Maxima of the deterioration spell as well as Enhanced Protection Charm. Once you have those, we can talk about how to combat the fortress.
Professors can activate a protective spell at the beginning of the fight to increase their defense from 35% to 50%. The cost of the charm is 3 Focus points, as well as the Deterioration Hex that must then be used against all enemies, whether in defense or attack. This spell causes 160 damage to each opponent.
Afterwards, you can also cast the Protection Charm (if possible before the first fight), followed by a weakness spell on each target. Then cast Deterioration Hex in order to take less damage until you can cast your damage spell.
As a little additional information, Professors have two skills that increase Power by 5 and Defence by 6% if both Protection Charm and Deterioration Hex are active. The two skills giving these bonuses are Ideal Exchange and Restricted Section.
One last thing...
Remember — you must obviously increase your Profession Level before you can try to take on stronger Chambers in a Fortress!
