Having removed Team GO Rocket from the game briefly due to a bug with PokéStops, they are now back with a vengeance — and Professor Willow has a new set of Special Research Tasks for you to complete!

Synopsis

The world of Pokémon GO is in peril. An organization called Team GO Rocket has invaded PokéStops and is in possession of Shadow Pokémon that behave strangely and seem to be in pain.

Team GO Rocket is clearly up to no good, and we need your help! Professor Willow and the team leaders have been hard at work observing and researching these happenings with Team GO Rocket, and they’ve come up with a plan to restore the PokéStops and rescue the Shadow Pokémon!

How to capture Shadow Pokemon

List of Special Research Tasks

Stage 1/4

  • Evolve 2 Pokémon (Murkrow encounter)
  • Power up 5 Pokémon (Sableye encounter)

Rewards: 1,000 Stardust, 2,000 XP

Stage 2/4

  • Catch 2 Shadow Pokémon (Koffing encounter)
  • Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts (Ekans encounter)

Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, 2,000 XP, 5 Golden Razz Berries

Stage 3/4

  • Purify 3 Shadow Pokémon (3,000 Stardust)
  • Purify a Fire, Water, or Grass-type Shadow Pokémon (3,000 XP)

Rewards: 2,000 Stardust, 5 Silver Pinap Berries, 1 Rare Candy

Stage 4/4

  • Auto-completed (1,000 Stardust)
  • Auto-completed (1,000 XP)
  • Auto-completed (1,000 Stardust)

Rewards: 1 Fast TM, 1 Charged TM, 3 Rare Candy
